By definition "Sustainability" is ultimately characterised by a system which requires no subsidy in the long run. However,Solar PV along with other forms of Renewable Energy sources will still call for a heavily subsidised system in place for a length of time to let it to develop in a protected environment and take roots to be able to ultimately have the opportunity of competing against non-renewable fuels as well as the nuclear power which right now we rely so heavily upon. But for just how long will this support be needed?

I don’t think that anybody who actively entered into or enters the business either as an investor, customer, company owner or installer thought that the primary subsidies were sustainable or indeed suitable for the industry in the long term but without them the industry would not be where it is today!

However, many people built their UK business models around subsidy guidelines through the feed in tariff system that has been changed radically because of the government and caused many organizations to go bust making unemployed numerous workers who had been drawn into the industry. This really is all fact! After reviewing the electricity industry in its entirety, the Economy and in what way best to integrate Renewable kinds of generation into the domain for the greater good of all i build the design for a system which will result in “Grid Cost Parity” for renewables which will not need a subsidy system to be effective.

Briefly, the conceptual background to this particular patent application is based on the advantages belonging to the practice of sharecropping by communities on a collective basis embedded within a competitive marketplace by directly attaching the rights and distribution to the output of the crop (In this case Green energy Electricity, farmed on a large scale basis) directly back to the owning individuals within defined limits for his / her own personal useage and thus outside the monetary and taxation system. This financial approach being in line with the Governments current policy with regard to the benefits obtainable from the current feed in tarrif system for domestic installations.

For those who are truly an enthusiast of finding and supporting an effective way to make the world a better place then please go to my website http://www.solar-panel-installs.com and follow the tab towards Patent Application which includes all the details of the design that is now at the publication stage with the Intellectual Property Office in the UK.Please be aware that the application is only for the UK and the design can be used as the basis for any project outside the UK on an open source basis.

More information of this application along with other articles which i've written on the subject, including “Why and How the Government and the Energy Companies Sacrificed thousands of Jobs in the Solar PV Industry” are also open for discussion on my Solar blog page.

I really believe the best way forward should be to keep installing but the Green deal is actually just another load of Green Spin Policy.

Why not write an article about Arnish yourself and send it to me? I am always keen to post articles by guest writers.

I would like to know why wind and wave power is the only renuable energy source considered as a country we could encourage hemp growth outdoors during summer months (alternatiating between wild/resting grows and hemp grows) and in greenhouses during spring/autumn months (between crops or as a seedling starter grow) we could have a multi use industry when using hemp. we could see fuel driven from hemp methanol/biodiesel, hemp based plastics(naturally decomposing within 7months into natural chemicals), hemp based insulation(cheaper and more environmentally friendly than fibreglass or expanding foam), hemp based textiles(hemp based clothing and hemp based furnishings can last longer than cotton and can be economically sourced in the country it is produced), food for live stock(save cash on processed/importing animal feed) and even hemp based cosmetics. all of these products/uses could be reducing the co2 emitted by the country through our gas/coal/oil use and it could also displace the co2 environmental impact of wind farms and hydro stations (as all these builds require heavy transport to build or they require co2 producing equipment to build them) I just feel as a Scottish resident we seem to be very narrow minded on our options of sustainable energy.

Thanks for pointing this out Dave. I am delighted that the MCoS are no longer objecting to this scheme.

In this blog's defence I must point out that the document you have linked to postdates the original publication of this article by a month.

Do you know if there has been any change in JMT's stance or that of the Ramblers' Association?

Actually, the MCofS has supported the scheme. You have picked up a 3-year old response to the scoping stage as if it was current now that the planning application itself has been made.
